Mother’s maiden name এর বাংলা অর্থ হল ‘মায়ের কুমারীত্বের নাম’। ইংরাজদের প্রথা মতে মেয়েরা বিয়ের পর নিজের নামের সাথে বাবার পদবীর বদলে নিজের স্বামীর পদবী লেখেন। সেই হিসাবে বিয়ের আগের নামকে maiden name এবং বিয়ের পরের নামকে married name বলা হয়। তাই mother’s maiden name এর অর্থ হবে কারোর মায়ের বিয়ের আগের নাম । যেমনঃ
